2016: What A Year!
December 22, 2016
What an incredible year this has been!
I just returned from Montreal, where we hosted our first ever Global PR Summit in North America- something that has been a dream of ours since we opened P World in November 2010. Canada is now officially the 20th country to host, what has become through the years, one of the world’s largest series of PR events.
We kicked off 2016 with our first ever event in West Africa. Under the patronage of the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Global PR Summit Accra was the first ever international event in this West African nation to feature presentations by global PR and communications gurus.
For us, 2016 was truly a year of firsts.
This year we took the Marketing Kingdom for the first time to Istanbul, Marrakech and Beirut. The Global HR Summit also continued expanding with new editions in Amman, Beirut and for the first time in Tehran, where it was the first ever international HR event organized in the country. Finally, our biggest event, the Global PR Summit in 2016 welcomed Oslo, Reykjavik, Manama and Montreal to our growing P World family.
In September 2016, we celebrated P World’s fifth birthday with a big marketing event in Skopje, Macedonia. With over 300 delegates, the event included presentations by some of our biggest supporters and friends, including Heather Mitchell, Richard Harless, Mary Jo Jacobi, Patrick Jephson and Tom Webster. Having all of them as our guests in our country was truly a dream come true for the entire P World team.
In September 2016 we also published P World’s first ever book- the Little Black Book of PR which includes chapters by some of our regular speakers on the most important trends and challenges in today’s fast changing world. The book reached #5 on Amazon’s bestselling business books list, explaining the need of practical books written by practitioners, especially in the PR industry.
But 2016 was also a year filled with terrorist attacks, coups, devaluations and low oil prices. All of these had an impact on the overall global business world, including ours. We at P World, however, remain committed to our key markets and will continue our mission of changing business reality even in these times of great uncertainty and fear. One more time, we send our condolences to the families of all victims of the deadly terrorist attacks around the world and we pray for unity, peace and stability.
Finally, as we wave goodbye to 2016, I would like to use this opportunity to thank, on behalf of everyone at P World, our amazing speakers, sponsors and partners for helping us and supporting us in what has been a truly challenging year for everyone around the world. Our mission of changing reality would not have been possible without your support and guidance.
Happy holidays and we wish you a year filled with happiness, love, health and most importantly, PEACE!
Kindest regards,
Kosta Petrov, Founder, P World
